NEWS

Responses to the Situation in Gaza

Reform Judaism celebrates diversity. We believe that presenting multiple and differing perspectives enriches each individual's ability to make informed choices about their own beliefs and actions. Our position on the current situation in Israel is therefore not singular. Rather, we are facilitating a conversation and welcome a multiplicity of views. While the Reform Movement does have an approved statement of policy on Israel, we have collected a number of voices which express the variety of responses within our Movement to the current situation in Israel. We invite you to engage in this conversation and add your voice to it, in the hope that from this dialogue will emerge some way to make sense of what is happening and to move us closer towards a peaceful resolution.

Please note that new pieces will be added as we receive them so do keep an eye on this section.

Liberal religion has done far too little to stand up to the fundamentalists within its own ranks

My bête noire is fundamentalism, that fearful and sometimes disgraceful distortion of faith which has done so much damage to the standing of religion over the last 50 years. Read Rabbi Bayfield's full article on the Guardian Website here.
